Alistair's first introduction to art was at the age of six when along with his Father he attended the local art group. This was in Umtata, Transkei, (now renamed Mthatha, Kwazazulu Natal) South Africa where he was born (also the birthplace of Nelson Mandela) and then at the age of thirteen he moved to Derbyshire, England (the birhplace of both his parents).
Alistair attended his first art college for four years studying drawing & painting. This was followed by a further three years studying Technical & Scientific Illustration and then working in the Advertising industry for seventeen years as a graphic designer/illustrator. Having now become a professional artist Alistair works mainly in watercolour, although through increasing demand he is producing more work in oil. Alistair has had a series of successful one-man & joint exhibitions at galleries across the country. He's also successfully exhibited for a number of years at the RSMA (Royal Society of Marine Artists),Mall Galleries, London. He was a finalist in the RI Young Artist Award, again at the Mall Galleries and selected as one of the top "50 Masters of Watercolour" in Europe, for the French magazine Practique des Arts. He was also personally invited by internationally known watercolour artist Ron Ranson to exhibit work in the Master Painters of the World (United Kingdom section) of the International Artist Magazine.
